Camp Taylor is a summer camp with lodge, nurse’s cabin, Hygeica cabin, nine cabins with 6 to 8 beds, bathroom/shower house with 8 stalls flush toilets and 4 showers. A central camp fire area promotes evening activities. Two large charcoal barbeques are available. A generator is available and billed by the hour. Ranges and refrigerator are powered by propane. Water is supplied by a spring located on the property, and is chlorinated and monitored for water quality by Department of Environmental Quality. We are currently in process of adding a well to further assure water quality and safety. Three cabins are equipped with stoves and cooking equipment for winter camp use for snow shoe, cross country skiing and snowmobile enthusiasts. The cabins can be booked at the ISU Outdoor Department.
The camp is located on the east fork of Mink Creek on leased forest service land. Formerly used as a Boy Scout camp and named Camp Tendoy, also used by Girl Scouts and Camp Fire Boys and Girls. After the main lodge was destroyed by fire, the community rallied to provide funds to rebuild and added a nurse’s cabin. Al Taylor was instrumental in the rebuilding effort and the camp was later renamed Camp Taylor in his honor. Camp Taylor is available for use on a rental basis with fees per person billing. Information can be found at the Camp Taylor website (camptaylor.org) with a booking calendar to check availability. Contact phone is 208-251-2942
